Our contribution
to climate protection

Climate change is the greatest challenge for humanity since the end of the Ice Age. The clear and unanimous vote of all 197 states at the World Climate Conference in Paris makes it clear that there is a man-made climate change, and that we urgently need to limit the average increase in temperature to below 2 degrees.

The economy plays a decisive role in this. Responsibility must be taken by caluculate emissions, reducing emissions (energy efficiency, renewables …) and compensating the remaining emissions by purchasing climate certificates. The certificates serve to provide financial support for climate protection projects in developing and emerging countries. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has consistently demonstrated that the avoidance of emissions costs only 0.6% of the annual value added, while the elimination of the damage costs of a „just keep on going“ costs a multiple.

We are aware of the particular responsibility as a company for generations to come and have acted accordingly. We have already taken a variety of measures to limit our emissions. We have now calculated our remaining emissions together with Fokus Zukunft GmbH & Co. KG. Based on current data, the footprint of our company is about 13,000 tons of CO2 equivalent p.a.. We have already taken further steps towards reduction and set ambitious targets for the next years.

This makes our company one of the first companies in Austria to compensate for its Kyoto emissions. In addition, we are also a member of the climate alliance of the Senat der Wirtschaft and, according to our investigations, one of the first companies to offer its customers climatic neutral plastic products.

The success of emission reductions and the expansion of renewable energies in developing countries depends very much on the voluntary and consistent action of the economy in industrialized countries. So we are also ready to take responsibility for the world, which we leave to our children and grandchildren.

Greenhouse gases spread evenly in the atmosphere. It is therefore useful to avoid emissions where the costs are the least. In addition, projects in developing countries and emerging markets contribute to the improvement of the economic, social and ecological situation. For emerging and developing countries, emission trading is a key driver for the transfer of clean technologies and sustainable economic development.

That is why we have decided to compensate the emissions of our company from 2017 by buying 13,000 certificates and to offer our customers climate neutral products. For illustration, every citizen causes an average of about 10 tons of CO2 per year through his life management. The balanced quantity of the greenhouse gas CO2 thus corresponds to the greenhouse gases that cause about 1,300 inhabitants of Austria in one year.

We have decided to support a photovoltaic project in India under the sovereignty of the United Nations.

Visual Percept Solar Projects Pvt. Ltd. (VPSPPL) proposes to develop grid interactive Solar PV Power Project of 25 MW Capacity in the state of Gujarat. The electricity generated from the project activity will be exported to the regional electricity grid and sold to the Gujarat State Electricity Utility (Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited) under a power purchase agreement. VPSPPL has selected poly-crystalline silicon PV technology and central inverters for its Solar PV Power Project.

The purpose of the project activity is to utilize renewable solar energy for generation of electricity. The project activity replaces anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG‟s) into the atmosphere, which are estimated to be approximately 32,763 tCO2e per year on an average during the crediting period, by displacing the equivalent amount of electricity generation through the operation of existing fuel mix in the grid comprising mainly fossil fuel based power plants and future capacity expansions connected to the grid.
